Water Sports In Goa

Image
Goa is famous for water sports in India. A good number of water sports activities are available on most of the beautiful beaches from Jet Skiing, Para Sailing, Scuba Diving, Dinghy Sailing, Fishing, Water Skiing to Wind Surfing. Recently I went there and enjoyed Jet Skiing & Para Sailing very much on Baga beach. I have one advice for people going for water sports is they must go for it empty stomach as chances of puking increases after full meal.

Vacation Time

Image
What could be more relaxing than a much needed vacation? It was a long due break and we headed for GOA . We never been there and I must say it is a most sought after destination for vacations in India. Though many people told me that this is not the best time to go there because of heat and humidity. But against all good suggestions we went ahead and enjoyed our time there. Goa is in two parts: north and south Goa. North part is very happening with all type of recreational activities, water sports and night life. This time we confined ourselves on this side of Goa and enjoyed every activity. Though we adventured to Colva beach in south Goa on a rented scooter (Rs. 250/day) which was almost 45-50 KM from our hotel near Candolim beach. Peaceful Colva is the biggest beach in entire Goa and it is quite clean and if you love to walk on the beach with holding your partner's hand then this is the sea side you must visit. I have made a promise to myself that next time I am going to...

A Humble Man: A Positive India

Every day brings a new kind of experience and insight. Some days ago I met a man who left a deep impression on my mind. He was in his fifties with hollow eyes and cheeks. His structure was bony and reminded me one of the characters from great Hindi novelist Premchand's novels. Yes, he is a daily wages laborer working almost 12 hours a day and earns around Rs. 250-300 per day. But one thing differentiates him from other people is his positive will and conviction. He has four sons in his native village nearby Basti district of Uttar Pradesh. All his sons are studying and he is the sole bread earner of his family. In one hour conversation he kept saying that he has only one desire left and that is his children must study and fulfill their dreams. As long as I am alive I will make sure from whatever meager income I have I will support them, he said firmly. His conviction to provide the best of studies he can for his children is rare. He made a promise to hims...

Monument Of Love In Danger

Image
Taj Mahal is considered one of the most magnificent and splendid monument of India. It is an ultimate symbol of love. People who have seen this stunning structure tell you exactly how beautiful it is? How it is altogether a very different experience for different people? I have seen people speechless and crying at the same time. When I first saw it few years ago I was also bowled over. It is a kind of experience which is beyond comprehendible. But sadly Taj Mahal is in danger. There are reports in the newspaper that its southwest minaret is witnessing a tilt. Though Archeological Survey of India (ASI) which maintains the structure said situation is not grave. But from time to time areas around Taj Mahal have seen unauthorized construction resulting in great threat to the structure. And it is really disheartening to see authorities’ indifference. I hope they wake up on time to save Taj Mahal before it’s too late.

Devanand My media profession gave me the opportunity to meet legendary actor of bollywood Devanand few years ago. I still remember the day when I went for the Hot Seat show shoot with Devanand. He was amazing and full of life. His enthusiasm and energy was out of the world. Dev Sahab never said no to his fans for autographs and photographs. May his soul rest in peace.

This Dog Is Lonely...

How many times you feel like screaming out loud? I know people who shared their feelings of loneliness, feeling of someone not there when you need most. It hurts more when you have nothing to do at home and there is nobody except you alone in the confinements of an abode. You go to one room to another, switch on and switch off the TV, surf the net and do all the regular stuff, you prepare tea and wanted to chat to your wife or son or any member of the home but at that particular time nobody is not there for you. You fee sorry and angry at that moment. You want to scream. I felt the same way so many times. In fact, everybody in some way needs companionship, which I feel is the most essential thing for life. There is a dog in my housing society. Who regularly barks between 8.30 - 9.30 AM. He is my neighbor’s dog. A cute Pomeranian breed. Two years ago, they brought him home. The family consists of three member father, mother and a school going kid. They are a happy family and en...

Brightest are mine...

Image
Recently I visited my relatives in Brahampur with family. It is a tiny hamlet in   Bihar ’s Buxar District. This area is known for its Shiva temple and people used to make a visit during festivals and make offerings. Residents are normally calm and hugely dependent on agriculture.  Life in Brahampur starts early morning and ends in general around 7-8 PM. Though there are nothing much to do there for me, I normally spent my days chatting with my four years old little daughter and answering her childlike queries. Sometimes kids throw you such difficult question that you hardly have any answer to please them. Nights in Brahampur were pleasant so we usually go to the roof and look at the sky. Except for cloudy days, sky was always full of stars. It looked so complete and fascinating. My daughter excited as usual asked same question every night ‘why sky in Brahampur has so many stars’ and why there are no stars in Noida (Delhi NCR). She started counting as many a...

Heat and Environment

Image
Last night I was listening 1963 classic song Aa Chal ke Tujhe Main Lekar chalu.. from the film door gagan ki chanon mei. This beautiful and most hummable song is sung by kishore kumar. It has beautiful, simple yet powerful lyrics which has capacity to engross you completely after so many years. At one moment this song says "Kahi dhoop khile kahin chawan mile, lambi si dagar naa khale". It signifies a time when there was enough plantation on roads, so that long distance travels did not become painful because of scorching heat. But now after 47 years scenario has completely changed, barring few exceptions. Highways has improved. It is now six lane from mere one or two lanes. Long route journey is now comfortable but it is kind of a barren ride on highways. inumerable precious trees has been cut in the name of development and new trees has hardly been planted, resulting in heat and depleting water table. this is a major problem which is hardly getting any attention by our m...
